Parashat Ki Teitzei 13 Elul 5785

09/06/2025

Shalom Aleichem,

Greetings and well wishes, peace and love to you from the home synagogue. Todays Torah portions covers the issue of laws,….more actually than any other Torah portion, and in Hebrew our title Ki Teitzei means in Hebrew…. “when you go out”.

These portions below, include laws about the treatment of a captive woman, returning lost objects, forbidden mixtures, the erection of a rooftop fence, rape, collateral, and workers’ wages. As the world turns, there is some controversy when people say the word “marriage” or “Christian” marriage, “Jewish” marriage, are we referring to a “captive woman”? Back then, sometimes it was. Worker’s wages, etc, all these laws still go on today in some form or another. This Rabbi, one had Christian and Catholic employers, who got rid of him for being Jewish, and still haven’t paid him his wages, or overtime wages in religious abuses and human rights violations. Yet, the laws then, in principle at least, are still true today. Point is, this is not so old-fashioned as it looks, it’s all still very real in it’s foundations.

Torah Portions: Deuteronomy 21:10-25:19

To the Christian portions of our audiences, we would like to remind you in Romans 9-11 Paul spoke a great deal of the value of being circumcised, bound to the laws above. Laws upheld, not replaced and reminded Jews are the chosen people of Israel in the remnants. Yes, we are….all, Christian and Jew, under law still today, people are confused what laws were admonished.

Spend time each Friday and weekend, reflecting on Kosher, and what it means for you. We have started our Kosher home canning preserving our fall picks here at out home synagoue. Some of the laws don’t apply, as we don’t live in Israel, but marriage laws, wages, kosher food, yes!

Like the picture above, pray over and meditate on the laws, that when you go out, they are still bound upon you in all you do, keeping as set apart, as his remnant. Know, we are in those latter days, and we must prepare, remain steadfast and true to our faith of our forefathers.

This ministry still gives out free Bibles and Torahs to those who come seeking and in need in the hopes you too will study, pray and follow the law…

Until next week….

B’Shalom,

Rabbi Mark Howard
